![]() ![]() I will say the Revival sounds amazing though. I downloaded the demo last night for the free Revival plugin, but I haven't had a chance to put it through a session just yet. just wondering about your thoughts on the new VMR. It's pretty obvious pretty quickly what's good and bad about it It will give you four very well done modules for the price of, in some cases, a single plugin. ![]() It will impart a strong "analog" character that might be too much for some things. VMR will give you good results very quickly. None of them replace skill or make a weak source great. Is it a must have? No plugin is a must have. ![]() You get two really good different comps and two really good eqs. I hear someting distinct going on with VMR. But there is a really interesting and I think somewhat unique thing going on wit the rack processing in VMR. I also think that slate kind of defaults to rock-style production, and I have to swim slightly upstream using it on folk or jazz or less drivey stuff. At the same time, I find virtual rack kind of irritating. ![]() They manage to impart a quality of depth that I don't hear as much with other plugins. Each module alone is good, but they really shine when used as intended, in combination in the virtual rack. I like VMR and bought it quickly after demoing. There track record at emulating analog gear is extremely good. They have kind of a "flavor" that I often like but which can get overbearing. They soften the high transients: they add small amounts of distortion that are very effective. Slate digital products, in my experience, are very good at imparting a strong "analog" quality. ![]()
